Hester Kamin is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (Phi Beta Kappa) and of the Jacques Lecoq International School of Theatre in Paris, and she is the recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Art Works Award, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists National Award, the Academy of Paris Award for Contribution to Arts and Culture, and the Academy of American Poets Prize. She has performed since she was a child and has created, directed, and choreographed more than two hundred shows with children and adults throughout the US, Europe, and Samoa. Most recently, she directed and choreographed Spring Awakening at Johns Hopkins University and Shipwrecked (The Tempest) with Gulfshore Playhouse and The Naples Philharmonic, choreographed Scapino at Kinetic Theatre in Pittsburgh, and directed her original play about a Holocaust survivor, In Flight: The Story of Sabine Van Dam, which toured from 2017-2020, reaching more than 10,000 people.
